Believing in the Impossible

The brain needs help. It needs love and discipline and constant training through daily learning. The training involves writing, skill-development, and reading. Reading specifically tends to kill my procrastination. The internet seemed to kill books and now I’m going back to them like long-lost friends.

I’m climbing this mountain and I’m one of the few that will reach the summit. In my mind, this started as an impossible journey that became real. My resolve took me every step of the way.

Now I’m looking down and I’ve created more mountains to climb as I become the one percent. I’m working my way to discovering the one percent of one percent. Its like traversing through a worm-hole vortex that no one else knows exists. Yes, it is a worm-hole and it appeared simply because I believed.

Yes, I’m fully aware of how short my time is and what I need to do. It’s not hard because everything has become natural. I never give up. I take a break and catch my breath but I keep on keeping on. Here I am at the top of the world becoming the top of my game.

Learning SEO and Copywriting!

So I’ve been obsessed with learning everything about WordPress even though I’m not a Junkie or a hardcore coder by any chance but several companies in the blogging slash content writing world are catching my attention over the last few years and want to share these valuable companies and resources.

  1. Studiopress – Creators of thee best framework and theme for WordPress. If you’re interested in blogging, this is the best upgrade you can give open-source WordPress. In 2012, I purchased the framework. Having tried other themes, after going on a long roundabout tangent, I’m back to using Genesis, and I’ll stick with them for he foreseeable future
  2. Copyblogger – This company also owns Studiopress but several successful bloggers are using their training in order to build authority on the internet. I’ve always wanted to learn effective content writing and plan on signing up for the training once I can pay the $399 per year for it.
  3. The Art of Nonconformity – Chris Guillebeau is one of my favorite book writers. He was one of the main reasons I wanted to learn more about business and living an unconventional lifestyle. Most of the content that Chris provides his followers are FREE. He’s also a great public speaker.
  4. Four Hour Work Week Blog – A lot of people scrutinize the author of New York Best Seller; “Four Hour Work Week” – Tim Ferris, whois an amazing person and one of my greatest inspirations. I read his book and it is awesome. I need to get my hands on another copy because I loaned mine out to a friend who never returned it as promised he would.
  5. Quick Sprout – Nick Patel is another amazing authority of everything SEO… I just barely discovered him last week and plan on learning his methods in the near future as I evolve. He’s the ultimate inspiration in my journey of learning how to build a blog.

So far, this is a list of some of the companies and people that inspire me to learn more about blogging and becoming an entrepreneur. I love WordPress and will be learning and keeping track of what I do, as well as blog about it. As a photographer, I’ve been obsessed with photography and honed my skills in that field for over 15 years. As a writer, I want to practice by keeping a few blogs and updating them weekly. So far, I have four blogs. So check back and learn more as I continue this journey.

The Entrepreneur Niche

This blog hinges on Entrepreneurship. To me, this word stands for freedom, becoming an authoritative voice, and helping other achieve their goals to break away from the status quo and survive happily on their own. Being an entrepreneur doesn’t always mean making lots of money, working endless hours, or getting burned out. It should begin as a hobby-business that’s low-key. Laying one brick at a time, you can build it up, and focus on the content that’s important to you.

What I want to achieve with Desert Rat Executive is to build a community of like-minded individuals who I can bounce ideas off of while I’m facing this journey we call life. I’d like to find other blogs who have similar visions and feature them on here, or at least mention them. I’ve been discovering one community after another based on the enterprising idea of living without a boss, and paving your own destiny.

I’ve been doing this for about seven years. It’s been both tricky, but rewarding. I’ve had many trials during the process. In the summer I’ve worked giving tours around the Southwest, taking foreign tourists to national parks and monuments and across the Navajo Reservation. I’ve spent a lot of time teaching people the Geology, History, Anthropology, and everything about the land. When it comes to teaching people the heritage, it’s hard to separate the land from the stories. All the details weave themselves together where time and place are concerned. If you came with me on this journey, you would see how the land tells the majority of the stories, I just play a become the narrator.

Aside from all this, This blog isn’t to necessarily about making money. It’s more concerned with creating value to a community of like-minded individuals. As an artist, photographer, and writer, this would help me grow and I want to relay these stories and experiences to a close-knit community of friends and the rare traveler who finds something worth keeping!

There’s a lot of people blogging within the niche of entrepreneurship but I’m a traveler, and a dreamer. I’ve also been called the storyteller. My love for the land, the Earth, and it’s history is indispensible and it’s what sets me apart from many suit-and-tie minded city-slickers. Hence, the first part of the title is Desert Rat. We also live in a free-world, and everything is dictated by a free-market system, so I throw Executive into the. I’ve got my own interpretation of “executive” and what it means. Look it up in a dictionary to see how broadly defined this term can become.

The hardest part of starting this from scratch was coming up with a decent title. It took over a week just to think of the best suitable name for my blog. It was the starting point. Now, it’s the beginning. It started like the Big-Bang, with everything pouring out of my imagination. This is a real vision and it’s not going to simply burn out. It has awakened a passion in me that’s been simmering for years!
